WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Recreation Commission welcomed the town's selection as one of five New England recipients for a Floating Beach Chair grant enhancing beach accessibility for residents with disabilities. The grant, developed with the Commission on Disabilities and Smile Mass, will be stored in the bathhouse with trained staff and a community ceremony planned. The Commission discussed recreational use of the 63-acre Sciarappa Farm, recently purchased by the town, as a replacement for athletic fields lost to North Intermediate construction.
The farm includes hiking trails and a pond. Summer programming includes Police Beach Day on June 29, Concerts on the Common starting July 8, and the annual Fishing Derby, which drew 30 children and 8 adults on June 6.
