Town Manager · Meeting of September 28, 2026

Wilmington's Select Board placed the MBTA Communities Overlay District on the November 21, 2026 Special Town Meeting warrant, responding to state pressure for zoning compliance. Town Manager R. Eric Slagle reported that the state Supreme Judicial Court upheld the MBTA Zoning Act of 2021, clearing the way for the Attorney General to pursue cases against 9 non-compliant towns including Wilmington.

The Attorney General has rejected the town's prior bylaw and is demanding districts with developable properties likely to generate actual development, not "paper compliance only." The Board also unanimously approved All Alcohol and Common Victualer licenses for Anejo's Mexican Restaurant at 206 Ballardvale Street, Unit 7; issued a Common Victualer License for Rizzo's Roast Beef & Pizza at 3 Church Street; and signed a $65,000 equipment grant agreement with Wilmington Community Television.
