Select Board · Meeting of October 13, 2026
Wilmington's Special Town Meeting warrant grew to seven articles, including a $4.8 million fix for a health insurance trust deficit. Town Manager R. Eric Slagle said the deficit stemmed largely from GLP-1 weight-loss drug costs, which totaled a little over $3 million including diabetes coverage, and a post-COVID surge in discretionary procedures; certified free cash came in at $41 million against an estimated $38 million. The board also tabled a draft election-worker conflict-of-interest policy after member Frank J. West said it would "impede free speech" by barring his son from donating to campaigns while working the polls.
Resident Rob Fasullo called the draft "First Amendment 101" and said it would disqualify committee volunteers who had donated to candidates. Two newly certified citizen petitions on banning anticoagulant rodenticides, one targeting private property via home-rule petition and one targeting town property, brought the warrant from five articles to seven ahead of the November 21 Special Town Meeting.
