Planning Board · Meeting of October 27, 2026

Wilmington's Finance Committee recommended a paper-compliant MBTA zoning district for the Nov. 21 special town meeting despite an active Attorney General's lawsuit. Planning Director Valerie Gingrich and the town manager said the state wants "buildable units," not parcels already built out, and warned the town has lost roughly $1 million a year in grants since falling out of compliance in December. The committee also backed a new bylaw capping data centers at two megawatts, raised inclusionary housing to 15 percent, and unanimously approved a $4,800,000 transfer to cover a health insurance trust shortfall tied to GLP-1 drug costs and rising elective surgeries.

Members separately approved $800,000 from the reserve fund for emergency sewer main relining, after Finance Committee member Brad Jackson noted nearly $1.9 million has gone to sewer repairs from town funds in under a year. Residents Karen and Frank West of Birchwood Road warned the data center bylaw lacked a mandatory closed-loop water requirement amid recent drought restrictions.
