Select Board · Meeting of October 26, 2026
WILMINGTON — The town declined a $6,726,000 bid to relocate the historic Roman House rather than demolish it. Town Manager R. Eric Slagle said a Manchester, New Hampshire, mover, the Sullivan Corporation, submitted a "negative bid" asking the town to pay nearly $6.7 million to move the building to Andover, calling the price unworkable. The board also heard that the North Wilmington fire substation remains on track for a spring 2027 construction start and a 2028 opening.
Members Gary B. DePalma and Frank J. West, joined by Chair Kevin A. Caira, said the MBTA has been unresponsive for months over deteriorating conditions at the town-center commuter lot, with DePalma calling it "embarrassing" and suggesting the town clean it up and bill the agency.
